DescriptionBack when Issue 28 of The Sixth Gun came out there was one page that immediately caught my eye. In particular it was the bottom panel that I loved the most. A very touching scene between Becky and Drake. When I checked the Comiconart website to see if the page was available it turned out that it was but at the time I couldn't afford to pick it up because of too many other obligations. Shortly after that, the page showed up in the collection of Ryan (retrothecollector on the CGC forums or Retro A here on CAF). I congratulated him on the stunning piece and then forgot about it figuring it was locked away in his collection.Well, last week I decided to contact Ryan and tell him if he ever decided to sell the page to let me know because I had regretted passing it up ever since. Ryan told me that shortly after purchasing the page he had sold it back to Court who is Brian Hurtt's art Rep at Comiconart. He told me to email Court to see if he still had the page or knew where it was since it had never been put back up on the Comiconart website. I emailed Court asking about the page. Much to many surprise it turned out that Court still had the page in his possession. I figured that page was long gone and the best I would get was maybe a lead as to who might have it. Well he didn't really want to sell it since it loved it so much but since it was his job he reluctantly priced it slightly higher then what it had originally sold for. Without batting an eye I told him I would take it since I have yet to see a Sixth Gun page that I have loved as much as this one. Believe me I have been keeping my eye out but there just haven't been any that had as great a sentiment as this page. For all of Issue 28 Drake is possessed by the Wendigo and is chasing Becky trying to take her gun. This page depicts them after they have been transported back to their world and Drake is no longer possessed. Becky still has her gun drawn on Drake but soon realizes that they are back. She drops her gun and they both console each other after the turn of events. The page arrived today and it is even more beautiful in hand then I had imagined. The coloring used in the comic for that bottom panel didn't do it any justice. We see Becky with her gun drawn on Drake. She looks at the gun and asks him if they are home. He looks up at her and she drops it. She collapses and they embrace and he tells her they are a long way from home but that they are alive but he doesn't know what that means. The whole page can easily tell the story of what is going on simply by viewing the panels. You know you have a great page when you can just look at the page and know what is going on in the story. Like I said earlier, it was that last panel that really made me want this page. The way Brian drew that panel is simply stunning. There is just so much great emotion pouring from that panel. You can feel the pain the characters have been through as well as the happiness they are feeling now that they have been returned home. What can I say. I am a sentimental guy and can't help loving a page that makes me feel good inside. A fantastic page that I never figured I would own but am thrilled to have in the collection. Covers and splashes are great, but the story is told in the panel pages and this is a great example - congrats!
