DescriptionBrubaker and Phillips really nailed the concept and execution of this series, for my taste. Here's a key scene near the conclusion of the first Reckless hardcover when missing pieces of Ethan's past are revealed to our hero in a jailhouse conversation. Thanks for taking a look! Phillips and Michael Lark have similar approaches to art, which is why they remind me of each other and I really dig both of their work. Phillips is a great storyteller and man, that last panel, SPECTACULAR!

I got jailhouse conversation
I'm goin' get to some revelations
And I try and I try and I try, t-t-t-t-try, try
I can't get no
I can't get me no
When Sean Phillips' in my art
And a man Anton will tell me so
He's tellin' Ed Brubaker
About some Reckless information
Supposed to find me incrimination
I can't get no
No, no, no
Hey, hey, hey
That's Ethan's page
I can't hide from the conclusion
You can't hide me from gritty action

I'm getting some satisfaction from these lyrics, Marcus!

Stunning page by Sean Phillips! Love the contrast between the lighter top five panels with the closeup faces in conversation and then the darker bottom panel with its intense change of tone and the angry confrontation underscored by the black silhouettes! Fabulous!

A fabulous use of this template of stacking two boxed-in tiers of panels on top of a bottom, "open" tier. A fantastic and explosive sixth panel there. It's like constructing the perfect joke setup and punchline delivery... It packs -serious- oomph. And although it may not be very funny, it's 'Criminal' - so you can be sure someone may very well be dying laughing... Another great pick up a a! Awesomesauce!
