Jonah Hex by Butch Guice, Yes!!!

Jackson Guice opened his commission list today. To celebrate I'm posting my Guice commission from earlier this year. I've wanted a Jackson Guice Jonah Hex for a long time, when the opportunity arose I jumped on it.

To my surprise, Jackson said Jonah Hex was one of his favorite characters and he was a big fan of Tony DeZuniga. It was his first time drawing Jonah Hex and I think he killed it. Definitely has a strong DeZuniga influence. Glad I was able to get him to draw his first Jonah Hex.

The commission came with a prelim and a nice note from Mr. Guice with a quick sketch of Jonah Hex. It was a pleasure to work with Mr. Guice and quite easy.

WOW! It's about time Butch draws Jonah Hex. I've long felt that this was a character and setting tailor made for his current style and illustration approach. As you say, it definitely feels like it has a DeZuñiga feel, yet still uniquely Guice, who is also a great guy. Congrats, dude, it's a great one!

Really nicely done but that is Butch - he works in a very detailed illustrative style

The thin lines are DeZuniga illustration style and the heavy shadow work is modern Guice all the way! The influences combine togive off serious attitude!
