Description

Margarita Luisa "Maggie" Chascarrillo and Esperanza Leticia "Hopey" Glass are, quite simply, two of the best characters given to comics in the last three decades. Their creator, Jaime Hernandez, has widely proved by now to be one of the greatest cartoonist EVER. All the three of them are prominently featured in this page, and all of them appear here in what can be considered their prime.

This would have been already a good enough reason to get this page, but I was able to find many others: Hopey's oversized black coat (in Chester Square, at the end of L&R, Maggie will remember her with that very same coat during her final reverie of the good old times); the "spanish" tag at the bottom of the page; Maggie's worried face and her words in the last panel ("Watcha gonna do?")... and I could go on for a while, and that's basically because decades ago, the first time I read these stories, I fell in love with them, and never really recovered.

Awesome. Loved reading L&R. It's like Archie comics for sophisticated readers. Real slice of life stuff with living breathing characters.

There was a true magic in reading these as they came out, not too much older than the characters, knowing these scenes, their music, & Jaime growing artistically as Maggie & company were growing up... I don't think I ever felt closer to a comic. Just beautiful.
