See what happens when you ask Spidey to Bisley - you would expect eight legs, fur, blood everywhere, and instead he surprises you delivering a perfect crossover between Ditko e Romita, with just the scary detail of the big hands. What a beautiful, unusual Bisley piece, congrats!
Incredible use of camera, light and shadow. Brilliant piece. The art of Portacio, differently from what happened to many of his Image pals, has evolved during the years - I am convinced that we have yet to see the best from him.
A perfect match of artist and character - no jokes. So simple and so nice.
What an incredible display of talent in depicting a simple scene in an interior. Every object, the expressions, every light and every shadow fall exactly in the right place. What a perfect piece.
These Sale commissions have an overall average quality I have rarely seen from any other artist. No matter how quick his take on a character, he has always something original to say/draw. And the execution is really superb. BTW, this Iron Man you have here is probably the best I have seen, congrats!
You don't even need the googles to see the 3D here. As typical in your collection, this piece is just a perfect choice.
Great sketch. One of the most dangerous kids ever drawn in comics looks helpless as a Peanut, how funny!
Fantastic. A piece of history. How much power, even in a quite moment. Frazetta work seems alive - as my mother use to state when she's exposed to a piece of art she appreciates.
My entry for the face behinf Bats is Joker more than Lobo. Stunning sketch anyway, it's incredible how much power Bisley is able to unleash even in just some simple scribbles.
Gerhard's work creates life through art - bypassing science. Incredible line and color work.
What's better here? The portrait? The dedication? Who knows. But what I know that this kind of works makes me think that Mr. Sim is by far the most dedicated, capable, interesting sketch-artist ever. I would buy immediately a luxury collection of his convention works - seriously.
Great! Just a few lines were enough to Mr. Janson to make a DD that is so easy to recognize you don't even need the signature. Congrats!
Impressive rendition of the character, adds a little bit of Peter Pan in the Lord of Greystoke. It makes you wonder what Mr. Vess could be able to do if given the chance to work on the subject. Simple, yet powerful piece.
I would like to have something to say about this, but I don't: maybe cat got MY tongue.
How good is this? Great choice for the shot and great execution for the anatomies. It really conveys a lot of energy. Great piece.
Such a nice work from the hands of two first class professionals. Really nice the contrast between the fight and the incredibly detailed background. Great piece.
I really second what Felix said. Every single page of this series is a joy. The drawing, the storytelling, the dialogues, everything is simply perfect. Great page.
Thanks for your kind words about the page, and for reminding me to spend some more for Gerhard's work. You are very right in your statement: his contribution to Cerebus has been extremely important. I read once in an interview (I cannot remember exactly the magazine or the period, but I am quite sure abou this) that he was specifically mentioning the sequence of "Cerebus and Jaka in a room" like one of the very first where he felt he was entirely clicking. He is underrated - I agree: but I believe because it's simply difficult for the comicdom to properly classify him and his incredible work.
Uncanny 268 is one of the milestones of 90's comicdom, and this page you have here is one of the milestones of Uncanny 268. Sacrilege maybe, but in my opinion Jim Lee and Scott Williams rarely have gone higher than here. Not to mention the historical relevance of the first handshake between the two guys featured. Whatever you gave away for this, you made a deal.
A tip of the hat to one of the major collecting accomplishment showed here on CAF. Your whole collection is more than deserving to be published, it would make a great collector's edition!
I am not the greatest fan of recreations, but this one you have here is beautiful. Not just great execution: it really has a meaning. Brilliant piece, bravo.
Brilliant page. There are few subjects as enjoyable as Spidey black costume if you collect B/W original comic art! Great page!
This Lark/Moonkinght combo is definetely something great. You had a great idea for the subject, and Mr. Lark delivered a brilliant work, congrats to you both.
Defintely a grail piece, If I have ever seen one. Kieth's takes on Hulk have been unforgettable, and the presence of Mr. Hyde makes this piece even more precious. I can hardly imagine a better example for Sam's art and vision in any collection, congrats Fabio.
Incredible light in this cover, clearly in the shadows of Steranko - at least in my opinion. It's one of the most fascinating pieces I have seen on CAF, something I would really PAY just to see in person, congrats.
Impressive, impressive piece. Spectre is the perfect character for Vess, and Vess is just the perfect artist for the Spectre!
This is brilliant, really. They would have been a really perfect pair.
I don't remember a single panel in the history of the X-Men with such a powerful image of Magneto. Panel 2 is history in the making. This whole page is history, to be honest. Deepest congrats.
Incredible lighting effects on this piece. One of the best paneled pages I recall to have seen from the Buscema/Palmer run, congrats!
Larry Stroman X-Factor has been a really important part of the 90's comics. Great pinup, great combo of character and artist, congrats.
These mices are so nices ;-) Great idea for a commission, and brilliant execution!
The Kindly Ones has been a great moment in modern comic history, and this piece you have here conveys all the drama of those final moments. Beautiful work from Mr. Hempel, cheers to you for getting this!
Stellar Cerebus page. I entirely agree with your description, this is a defining moment in the High Society narrative. AND, it's a clear proof of the undisputed talent of Mr. Sim, on of the greates graphic storytellers ever.
Great choice for the character. For some reason, I find the red background quite scary.
Great Penny Century action page, the Super Hero of romance, with great display of all her powers and costumes.
