Description

"American Gals" by Ray Bailey. The artist worked with Fleischer Studios early in his career. He later assisted Milton Caniff on The iconic Terry And The Pirates. This piece appears to be character studies for a strip that was under consideration. Some nice ink work in these vignettes.

I love this. Bailey was a pretty great artist. In addition to assisting Caniff on Terry and the Pirates he had his own series, Bruce Gentry for a number of years. I really like his art. This is fantastic, congratulations.

Thanks for the comment. I stumbled across this, and was taken by it. I can see the Caniff/Sickles influence, but he has a style all his own. So many classic creators out there who deserve more attention.

Glad you enjoyed it. Those colors are very vivid in person, and do make the piece pop.
