DescriptionIn the recent documentary about Jeff Jones ("Better Things") one of the more memorable segments is when Jones discusses how there were times when he would look at an object and think it was so beautiful that he would just have to try to immediately capture its image on paper. This drawing is clearly such an attempt. On the back of the art in pencil is a description of the art ("wild violet"), place where it was found ("Saugerties, NY), date (Summer 1983), and full signature. Jones must have seen this flower and felt compelled immediately to draw it. You can feel the spontaneity in the line work. Such a simple drawing is mesmerizing in the hands of a master.Social/Sharing |
