Description

Dan Slott builds on Jen’s sense of loneliness from the opening page here on page two.

After receiving high praise from the faculty at her graduation, her dad gives her a big hug. Meanwhile, her classmates don’t even recognize her, let alone invite her to the party they’re all headed to. Instead, Jen poses for a picture that says a thousand words.

I really love Juan Bobillo’s framing here in panels 2, 4 & 5, where he emphasizes the distance between Jen and her classmates. And that last panel is a clever bit of transition by he and Dan Slott, as they use the photo to end the flashback and bring us up to the modern day when we turn to page three.

Really cool set up pages that puts you on her side right away! They win you over because the typical comics audience can relate to being that outsider and loner at one point or another in their lives.
