The Midnight Sons are a team of supernatural heroes in the Marvel Universe that appeared in several 1990-1994 multi-issue crossovers of Marvel’s supernatural titles. Their first appearance in Ghost Rider #28 launched several books in the Midnight Sons saga. The card layout is as follows: In oldentimes, prior to the fall of Atlantis, The Order of the Midnight Sons (also known as The Spirits of Vengeance) opposed the demon Zarathos. In recent years, Dr. Strange gathered a confederation of mystically powered heroes known as “The Nine” with the intention of stopping Lilith, The Mother of Demons, from reuniting with her children, The Lilin, by ripping open the walls between the earthly dimension and the supernatural one where her children resided. The team stopped Lilith and became the present-day incarnation of The Midnight Sons. The Midnight Sons are composed of Dr. Strange, the Daniel Ketch Ghost Rider, Morbius The Living-Vampire, John Blaze, The Nightstalkers (a group of mystic-hunting heroes that included Blade, Frank Drake, and Hannibal King), and The Darkhold Redeemers (Louise Hastings, Victoria Montesi, Sam Buchanan, and the sorcerer Modred) who were intent on destroying the ancient tome of evil known as The Darkhold and its physical embodiment, The Dwarf. “The Nine” continue to maintain the magical borders between realms and have become the Marvel Universe’s primary line of defense against magical and mystical threats. Each of the living members are still active but have since gone their separate ways; however, it remains possible that Dr. Strange could reunite the group if needed.
