DescriptionAround ten years ago I fell in love with Yale Stewart’s online strip JL8. In a world filled with superhero stories getting progressively darker, his youthful and upbeat take on the Justice League was a breath of fresh air.In addition to being a talented artist, Yale has a deep understanding of who these characters are at their core. You can see just how deeply he’s thought about them in every gesture, facial expression and storyline he’s laid down since the very beginning. Knowing what a big softie Tim was, I thought JL8 would be right up his alley, so I sent it his way. He fell in love with it too, and eventually struck up a friendship with Yale at some long ago con. He even bought some original JL8 art from Yale at that con, which soon graced the walls of his home. Tim was very particular about his small but mighty original art collection, so that speaks volumes about his respect for Yale and his work. I’d had this idea in mind for a while, but the pull to see a mashup of TLH & JL8 only grew since Tim passed. Fortunately, Yale was excited by the challenge. The results are a delightful and fitting homage to our friend, who I know would have gotten a big kick out of “The Little Halloween”. I hope you get a kick out of it as well. And, as an added bonus, here’s an homage of my own that I cooked up for this one. Might be eye roll inducing, but I’m gonna force it on you anyway. Lol. Jokers on desks and smug little kittens There’s Poison Ivy, with her I’m quite smitten And tiny Penguin, a bird with no wings These are a few of my favorite things Grundy and Hatter, they can be quite brutal Plus shadowed Harvey, whose coin has no scruples Add in the Scarecrow, what terror he wrings These are a few of my favorite things Hoping to best the Batman in their clashes So they can leave Gotham City in ashes All of the madness and chaos they bring These are a few of my favorite things When the dog bites When the bee stings When I'm feeling sad I simply remember my favorite Tim And then I don't feel so bad NOTE: This sucker is HUGE! Yale did it on one 22x17 board rather than have a line going through a DPS made of two boards. NOTE 2: Yale made this one into a colored print available in his Big Cartel. Tim Sale lovers and others interested can get a copy and support a great artist at the same time. Social/Sharing |

Imagine substituting these kids into the storyline as is! Halloween cards seem cool to send with this!

I believe that Tim and Yale first met in person at the same Heroes Con where I first met Susan and I watched Tim's table when he wandered down Artist Alley to say hello.

Ha ha, love all the expressions, and I agree - he really through through all these Gotham baddies! Love Oswald, looking large and in charge. Or in charge anyway :) Glad you posted the WIP pics - really enjoy seeing those, and of COURSE it had to get colored for a print! Congrats!
