Description

The Last American was a four issue mini-series released by Epic in 1990. It was written and drawn by 2000ad stalwarts John Wagner, Alan Grant and Mick McMahon.

The story tells the tale of Ulysses S. Pilgrim, a disgraced US army officer who, twenty years after a global nuclear war, is awoken from suspended animation to see what, if anything, remains.

Quite simply The Last American is amongst one of my absolute favourites. Comics perfection, in fact.

So it was a real no-brainer to ask Mick about a commission based on this tale, and I couldn't be happier with the end results.

Now to dig out the old issues and have (yet) another re-read!

UPDATE: The Last American has just been reprinted by the publishers of 2000ad; Rebellion.

For this new re-issue, they contacted me to ask if they could include my private commission in the book as an 'extra'.

I was, of course, more than happy for them to do that, and so supplied them with a fresh scan for that purpose.
