Description

This page rekindles my childhood dreams of sci-fi underwater worlds with giant sea monsters etc. As a kid I often fantasized about worlds under the sea, and one of my favorite books was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Also I like the page because it reminds me of the scientific fascination when observing something we cannot explain for the first time.

The page was love at first sight, both the text and the art. For example I like how the writer Bill Mantlo and the artist Tom Sutton in just one panel completely set the stage and capture the reader. So to me this piece is really about an amazing composition, art (including the writing), scientific fascination and all the many thought associations I get from this page. The size of the piece is 10.5" x 16 ".

Tom Sutton delivered a great performance when drawing this page, but this is also the first page to introduce the characters, scenery and the story - so I guess a lot of thoughts went into this page (page 1 is a splash page without any text to introduce the story).

Finally, the two top panels are large and have full width, should work well framed!

I enjoyed owning this piece but I can see it holds more meaning for you than it ever did for me. I'm always happy to see a piece go to someone who can love it on such a personal level. Congrats.

Thanks Michael, I'll do my best to provide a nice home for the piece, framed behind museum glass if I can find some wall Space! :-)
