Description

I loved Marvel and DC's Amalgam one-shots from the mid-1990s, spinning out of the Marvel Vs. DC/DC Vs. Marvel limited series. I've always wanted to get my hands on a page from those comics, but they're hard to come by. So when I stumbled upon this splash page on eBay for a ridiculously low price, I had to have it.

Now, the composition here seems a little odd to me, and the page isn't in perfect condition (it's got a couple of bends/creases). But it's early work from Cary Nord. And it's an Amalgam page, so I'm elated. It features three Amalgam characters: a non-Batman, super-spy Bruce Wayne; Moonwing, an Amalgam of Nightwing and Moon Knight; and Huntress (or perhaps Black Bat), an Amalgam of Batgirl and Black Cat.

At the time of this comic's release, I remember being quite impressed with the art by Nord, who was a newcomer in mainstream super-hero comics at the time. Even though this splash page doesn't represent his best work in the issue in question, he did a solid job with the noir tone he achieved throughout much of the issue and the sharp designs, notably for the villains (none of which are pictured on this page).
