Description

This is one of my favorite pages for a number of reasons. First of all, I love comic pages that feature journalism, and this is an early sequence from the "Monstering" issue, in which gonzo journalist Spider Jerusalem and his two filthy assistants torment a corrupt and hypocritical politician.

Another reason I love it is the fact I received it as a gift from artist Darick Robertson himself. In the fall of 1999, I was working as a staff writer for the now-defunct comics portal website Psycomic.com, and I went on a coast-to-coast promotional tour to campuses and comics shops to spread the word about the site. In San Francisco, my two travelling companions and I stopped at Comix Experience, where several artists had agreed to appear for an event coinciding with our visit. Darick was among them, and he offered this gift for Psycomic. A few months later, the company and its associated websites tanked, and this page came with me.

Finally, I treasure this page just for the in-your-face, over-the-top comedy of using a two-faced cat to wipe vomit from one's mouth.
