DescriptionHappy New Year, everyone!I'm starting my 2023 with a fantastic cover by the great Nick Bradshaw. His ultra-detailed covers always get my pulse pounding, especially when you add an imposing figure like Doctor Doom. This cover also features an interesting character named Rachna Koul, an expert in imperiumology, the science of super powers. As the Thing and Torch explore an alternate dimension in which Doctor Doom is now Galactus (sure, why not), she is along for the ride in order to try and help the two Fantastic Friends figure out why their powers are diminishing, though her motives are far from pure. Like a young Art Adams, reborn from the ashes, ready to take his place amongst the pantheon of modern greats! Wonderful piece!

Fantastic way to kick off the year! I love how the layout feels like some of the classic FF covers with Doom while still being something new. Great overlooking DOOM complete with Kirby Krackle.

This awesome version of The Thing would be the star on almost any other cover. But Nick's phenomenal Doom here just steals the show! I mean, that Doctor Doom is just ridiculous! One of the best Victor Von Doom drawings I've seen in a long, long, time. Even love how Nick put his own spin on the "Kirby Krackle" here. I see you're not wasting any time. Absolutely killer cover and a great way to kick off your collecting year. Congratulations and Happy New Year my friend.

If this be Doomsday! Well Bradshaw definitely brings that same vibe with the updated bold energy to carry the Marvel lore into modern times!

Wow, this is so Koul! The image of The Thing is already spectacular enough, but Doctor Doom is in a class all by itself. I can see and feel the Power Cosmic bursting from within him in a way that very few artists ever have! And check out Rachna Koul. She's so scared she peed herself!

Hahaha, very good observation! I guess Koul is not so koul under pressure.

Happy new year, Paul! Wow - Nick brings his own personal Power Cosmic to bear on this beauty, which is a testament to his wizardry regardless of where you look; from the spatter down on the rocks (lending the piece a dirty, earthy aspect) up to the incredible hatching on the starry heavens (and the krazy kosmik krackle evaporating off of Doom), this is Nick at the peak of his powers. Phenomenal renditions of both Johnny and Ben here, but Doom is the killer. Not just his hood, not just his helmet (both of which would have been enough), but his HANDS. Incredible shading and detail in those - just amazing. A pretty sweet way to kick off 2023, Paul! Beautiful pick up - congrats!

Way to ring in '23! Jealous o' this one - SUCH an exquisite Doom! Love all the hatch-y detail in how he's rendered, and overall a nice homage to many an FF cover of the year featuring a large Doom descending upon the hero family/team! Pieces like this clearly show Nick's admitted 2 biggest influences in Art Adams and the late great Mike Wieringo. Yet still all his own :) Congrats, Paul!

Looming Doom! Is this a portent for the new year??
Great figures here but I think the environmental effects steal the show!

Oh lord, I hope it's not a Doom-ish portent for 2023, lol. That wasn't on my mind when I posted it anyway. I hope it'll be more of a 'joyful Squirrel Girl' kind of year. Thanks for the comment!

Does he do anything other than draw? With that level of detail, how does he even have time to eat, or take a shower? :) I love Bradshaw covers, especially from his FF run. I snagged one of those, too. And...DOOM! Large and in charge, as Kirby intended. Great score, Paul. Clobbered!

Does anyone draw a better Thing these days than Bradshaw? I think this cover proves the answer is no.
