DescriptionI'll admit. I don't remember much about this series, though I'm sure I read some or all of the 12 issues at the time. I know that the "Slingers" (Ricochet, Hornet, Dusk and Prodigy) began as four different alter egos assumed by Peter Parker in the later '90s when he was accused of a crime he didn't commit and had to give up the identity of Spider-Man for a while. And then later, after Peter became Spidey once again, some other people assumed the mantle of these four heroes, and Slingers #0 premiered in late 1998. A couple years back, three original art covers from the series were offered to me, and I thought they were all really cool, so I grabbed them all. In preparation for this post, I did skim through issue #8, and yeah, it's that pure '90s craziness & weirdness that I loved at the time and still love today. Thanks for looking! I'll be taking off now, cuz I have some more reading to do ... Social/Sharing |

Peter Parker was accused of a crime he didn't commit, had to give up the Spider-Man identity for a while and assumed four different alter egos?!?! Man, I wish I could say I had smoked a ton of pot back in the 90's, at least then I'd have a reason for never having heard about this. I always thought this series was about several superhero couples who became slingers and decided to partner swap with each other for some exciting sexcapades!😜

Love it! Though I'm never able to find art by Criss Cross, so I'm kinda jealous too!

Agreed! I am not familiar with this run, but what's not to love! And it's cool that you have them all.

Swarm it up, Chris, Swarm it up, Chris,

Oh, wow. I'd forgotten about this one until right now. Nostalgia blast to the frontotemporal lobe! I remember this creepy crittery cover, and have it somewhere in a long box. Heh. I know I didn't catch the Door's reference the first time around. Love this 90s weirdness. Swinging!

Love this, man! ChrisCross/Stull killed on these covers, from the design/composition to the illustration to the RICH inks. Still as deep as they were the day Stull did 'em! I got one myself and actually look at it a lot for those reasons. Suh-weet '90s get, Paul - congrats!

Yes! I love how this weird Spidey disguise idea just took on a life of its own. Very cool, Paul!

The late 1990s was a fun, wacky time at Marvel. This cover brings those feelings of nostalgia for that period back to the forefront of my mind. Great stuff!
