DescriptionWow, I am super psyched to add this page to my collection! Normally not one for panel pages, this particular page was on my want list for awhile. I would visit it in the previous owners' gallery frequently - he owned the three page "origin of Batwoman" sequence, but to me THIS was THE PAGE I wanted, because of the pure artistic mastery JH Williams brought to the table on the issue, the series, and this particular page.Of course, as comics readers, we are all used to the use of panels as a storytelling medium/device, but this particular page, to me, always represented a masterclass of sequential storytelling. In the book, the original page viewable below, it is a silent page, with the first meeting between Katherine Kane and Batman. That meeting would inspire her to take up the mantle of the Bat. Throughout her origin issues in Detective, Kane's early years are depicted in a simpler style. When Batman enters her world, the detail becomes very real, as if he has added a layer of texture to her life that was previously missing. It's one of those pages that when I first read the book, gave me shivers, and was such a powerful visual progression. Cinematic. When the page came up for auction, I would have paid a crazy amount for it, because I wanted it to be my example of Williams' amazing run on the character. Signed by JH Williams III. Social/Sharing |

I have yet to read any comic with Batwoman in it, but the art presented might push me to finally do so. It's a truly beautiful page !

This is a really great page. So many times pieces get overlooked in auctions amongst the splashes and paintings and covers but this is a really well put together and executed page. I really like this and I really respect your eye on this one.

This is not in my nostaglia sweet spot but I remember it popping out from the pack in that auction - this is a nice piece of art!
