DescriptionI have become a huge DWJ fan over the last few years, but his work on Beta Ray Bill really blew me away. When there was a surprise drop announced for issue 1 I was hit with two realities: 1) I HAD to have a page; 2) I’m poor. With those two facts in mind, I thought long and hard on what to do. I decided my strategy would be be to go after a “C” page (which was hard here because there really was no C pages in this entire series), but I told myself it had to be a page that mattered to me. I looked through issues 1, and immediately on page 2 I was hit this touching scene between Bill and his mother in a brief glimpse into his origin. It fit all my requirements for this drop. The hard would be actually getting it. When the drop came I barely gave myself a second to actually look at what I was clicking on, but did manage to click on this one, and thanks to the Comic Art Gods, I was able to get my name in first on this one. I think all the high rollers were busy chasing after the A+ pages (which was the majority of pages from this series). Very happy to have this in my collection.Big thanks to DWJ and Felix for breaking up issue 1. 11x17 pen and ink Social/Sharing |

The early world building and setting the time frame is at the heart of what made the series work. This page is at the core of Bill's character and you will think of it every time a punch is thrown or a blow is taken as it speaks to his origins and what he fights for.

So many lesser writers would have been tempted to make that opening scene drag on for 10 pages. DWJ is so economic with her writing.

The quiet, heartfelt pages are the most "DWJ" parts of the story. And what separates him from everyone else.

Awesome page! Love how DWJ depicts BRB's people and the panel-to-panel storytelling is right on the money

This page is an A+ in my book. No such thing as a bad DWJ page and these heartfelt moments are what he does best. Huge congrats!

This page has everything you could possibly want in a DWJ piece - I especially love the trademark, moody backgrounds in the final panels. Congrats.
