DescriptionThe year was 1980 and nothing in the comic book world was as much a phenomenon as the John Byrne X-Men run... Everyone was reading it, living it and loving it. Fanzines and books on it sprang-up like weeds and fans ate it up. It was during this time that SQ Productions came up with the idea of doing an Uncanny X-Men portfolio featuring 4 painted plates, each suitable for framing. They got artist John Byrne to do one, and the other 3 paintings were created by fan-favorite painters Fastner and Larson. The portfolio was a HUGE success (they even did a second portfolio to follow it up!) and anyone who remembers the "glory days" of that time will easily recognize this AMAZING painting titled: "THE POWER HUNGRY MUTANT - MAGNETO!" The X-Men battle Magneto, The Toad, and saveral metal robots! This is a well-recognized piece of art from the prime period of the X-Men. This is a VERY LARGE full-color PAINTING which measures a whopping 20 by 26 inches, (with an actual painted art image measuring 18 by 23 inches) Great1980 PUBLISHED X-Men .Social/Sharing |

Nothing short of amazing! It would be great to see a larger (and a little less blurred) image of this F+L masterpiece :)

Wonderful! I'm lucky enough to have the full size pencil prelim to the "Beware the Danger Room" print from the second set. These really are a sight to behold in person... massive, and oh so impressive. Congrats on landing a finished one and thanks for sharing!

When I spied it online I thought to myself "WOW!" When I first set my eyes on this piece I thought "WOW!" again. So I guess Fastner and Laeson have a wow factor. Thanks for your nice comments.
