Description

Wally Wood - Galaxy Science Fiction October-1959 - Preliminary Original Art (Galaxy Publishing Corp., 1959). This smokey and moody prelim was created to showcase the story "Someone To Watch Over Me" by Floyd C. Gale and H. L. Gold. Produced in ink and gouache over graphite on 6" x 9" Bristol board. This has been affixed to a 7" x 10" Bristol backing.
From the Roger Hill Collection.

This did finally see publication in "Wally Wood - Galaxy Art and Beyond" by Roger Hill published by IDW Publishing in 2016.

Great imagination! Wood had so much to give the genre! More horror and mysterious here with these organic shapes than the sci-fi look in the final version.
