Description

First page paneled splash to the story "A Strong Right Arm" published in December-January 1972-1973. In the previous issue the Haunted Tank died so Jeb and his crew created a "Frankenstein tank" which was assembled from various parts of other dead tanks. So this new tank is still considered a "Haunted Tank." Great shot of the HT crew in the bottom panel, led by Lt. Jeb Stewart, in an atmospheric, rain-soaked setting.

I was exposed to G.I.C. long after this run, well into the later period when the Haunted Tank was an M4 Sherman. The occasional reprint would showcase the classic first M3 Stuart incarnation, but it took a little rooting around in 25� bins at early comic conventions to find issues from this (perhaps slightly-overlooked) middle period. As a kid, I distinctly recall being a little put-off by the non-standard tank. As an 'adult' reader, I can appreciate the different direction the creative team was going with the title - more traditional comic than standalone-story-little-continuity 'war' comic.
