DescriptionI started to read comic books in France, when I was about 6. Several publications like Mickey, Strange were publishing and translating stories from US comic books. And then, there was PIF Gadget. Probably does not resonate at all with my american friends but it was a weekly publication, following Valiant, and affiliated with various left wing, liberal groups and trends. PIF was a collection of stories from various artists. Some of average quality, certain quite decent and a few... exceptional. RAHAN of course was among the really good art and stories. And then... Corto Maltese. I did not fully understand the stories, but I felt like this was a very special treat to young french readers.Fast forward 10 years and I start collecting french hardcover and softcover comic books. Found La Ballade de la Mer Salee et fell in love with Corto Maltese. 10 more years looking for all the different editions, formats. And then 20 more years, gosh, time flies. I moved onto OA collecting but of course, never thought that I would have a shot at a Corto Maltese page. Some strips were circulating here and there, nice but not what I wanted. Then a few pages surface. Hesitation and then... the opportunity of a lifetime. The page is gorgeous. The price is right. Installments are possible even... and my dream comes true. This page from Les Celtiques has a very special meaning to me. Of course, there is this insane panel of Corto with his coat in the car. And this is part of the Baron Rouge storyline. But you will notice a bottle of wine in one of the panels. And for everybody who knows me, after OA, definitely wine is my passion. Enjoy! Social/Sharing |

Awesome. I dream of a Corto page but they are already too far away from me price wise and always getting further. Great to see this one.

Congratulations on this beautiful piece of history. Isn't it great when the stars align just perfectly to make a piece like this possible?

There is something about a Corto Maltese page that just always looks and feels "right." And cheers to dreams coming true.
