It is actually not a commission but a published pin-up done for an hommage to Hellboy. Was not sure how to describe it and picked Pin-Up which might have not been the best choice after all... though there are pin-ups that are published. Interior page maybe? But this is not really a story.... Hummm....
I know why your collection is so much incredibly nicer than mine: you pull the trigger when I keep hesitating. Great example, fantastic addition. Could you start getting interested in McFarlane and Liefield now please. And sell your Kirby, Adams and other common vulgarities to fund the new acquisitions. Good. David, the main issue with your gallery is that basically, I should post a comment on almost every single piece. You were so smart, so early... and when you combine that with an exquisite taste... Like Felix said, can I be your friend? I promise to play nicely and not throw sand in anybody's face. Really, I promise.
Great cover. One of the first comic books that I actually got from a friend vacationing in the US... Memories... And Heritage should develop a nice mobile app for people forgetting when they are supposed to bid. Oh well. At least this one found a good, comfy new home. Congratulations!

Late comment... I mean... in a single day, think of the shock: the Savage Tales 5 cover and browsing your collection.... I see... this. I thought I was happy with my Warlock page and the half-splash panel of the Matriarch... but gosh, this is IT! If you want only one Starlin piece, no question, this cover is the one. And I am with Glen on that, yep, "Screw the Golem!!" when you see that comic book in the store. Totally. Magic, Scott, magic. Let me know when you set up your museum, I will be your curator for free. Perfect retirement job !!
I still remember reading this story in the B/W large mag size publications done by Lug in France. I was crying like a baby when during the last battle, running out of arrows, the first non-hero I can remember of in a comic book, dies standing up. Seeing this wonderful cover in all its glory, I cannot help but cry a little.... just a little, I am a grown man now... right... This is beyond Grail. Burn your idols, gents, this is it. And let me cry a little more.
I was so proud of myself... I had resisted for so long to post a comment... and even longer to come back and simply stare at that fantastic piece.... But that's it, the weakness is all over me, cannot think, cannot move, have to look at Betty... Forever and ever.

Most people dream of a Frazetta piece, some are lucky enough to own a sketch, sometimes a page or a strip, even more rarely so, a great pencils or india ink fully finished large piece... and then, there are the happy fews who can lay their eyes on a painting, proudly displayed in their living room or private museum.... What a fantastic pick up Albert.
I found a new game: identify a piece in Jim's collection that I do not like at all... Believe me, I am still searching and this one, well, nope, LOVE IT !! What an incredible collection and thanks so much for sharing it on CAF!

Iconic image from the very symbol of heroic fantasy... I stil remember reading Conan stories for the first time and then, buying every single novels ever written by R.E. Howard... If there was a single page from Eric's collection, for me that would be the one !! And then I would ask for a few dozens of covers ;-)
I think this pieces is way too good compared to the rest and you should donate it to a nice guy... Black Adler, yep, he is so very cool, believe me !! Seriously this is Superb, simply superb with capital S.
