Description

To many people Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott might epitomize the pinnacle of Silver Age art teams, but to me, nothing can beat Curt Swan and George Klein. An April 2009 purchase. Look at the great expression on Superman's face in the second panel! It reminds me of his Superman portrait guide sheet done for DC. You can find a scan of THAT original in Frank Giella's great CAF gallery!

Swan/Kein was my favorite pairing from the Silver Age. Nothing wrong with Swanderson, of course, but George's inks were great on Swan.

Swan was the best. Look at the individuality of each person and their expressions. You felt you'd recognize those folks on the street. Ditto for body types and clothes. Wonderful work.
