Description

Here's our latest art acquisition, which we picked up last night. By artist Ken Kelly, it was used as the cover for the 37th Dray Prescot book, "Warlord of Antares" by Alan Burt Akers (masking the ID of Ken Bulmer), which was published by DAW Books in 1988. It was the final Prescot book to be published by DAW. The series was inspired by the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Showing that it pays to go to conventions and meet and make friends with fellow collectors, a few weeks ago a collector friend of mine contacted me about this painting. He was trying to do a trade with another collector in Spain, and one of the items the Spanish collector offered him was this painting. Knowing that I collect art from the Dray Prescot series, my friend was able to get this piece included in their trade, and I then bought it from him.

Every element on this painting is dangerous and poses a threat! It shows the Warlord's world and how he has to be just as dangerous. Tremendous painting!

I've always loved this one of Ken's. Great acquisition story! Connections are key. Congrats!!
