Blackmark, created by Gil Kane, was one of the first American graphic novels and published by Bantam Books in 1971. The original story, and a follow-up story, were later published by Marvel in 1974, and again by Fantagraphics Books in 2002.

I've always admired Kane's clean & dynamic style of art and very much enjoyed reading Blackmark when it first came out in the 70's. So when Richard & Wendy Pini decided to part with some of their art collection I was quite happy to get this piece.

It is sleek and dynamic and the energy crackle just gives it that extra special touch.

Blackmark is definitely one of the high points of Gil Kane' career, in a period when everything he touched he changed to gold... Congrats!
