Well ... that's a tall cup of creepy; and definitely makes for an eye catching cover. Thank you for sharing. I am unfamilar with the artist but will look for more of his art if this is an example of what he can do.
Wow! Very, very nice. It's always a treat to get your holiday card and I'm definitely looking forward to this year's card ... :)
I am not familar with the artist, but nice work; the patina especially is very well done.
Cool to hear that you & Ryan will be at IX; see you in 3 days ... ;)
Wonderful restoration work. Looking forward to seeing the original next time I visit ... ;)
Love the story on why you bought the piece ... :) Congratulations on being able to recapture and add to a memory.
I'm a Taurus too, and while I don't follow astrology I do enjoy the images & symbolism.
I had the pleasure of seeing this piece in person at WindyCity; it is stunning ... and I was tempted to buy it myself ... ;)
Wow! Very nice.
I enjoy the title too ...leaves you wondering which one is the guardian ...
A wonderful addition to your collection. And I have never seen the sculpture ... a really nice representation of the original painting, and thank you for sharing.
Like John, I am also not familar with the artist, but he definitely creates lovely & interesting art. The title is fun too ... ;)
What a cool piece, and I love the title. And definitely looking forward to seeing Fred's next take on Harley.
I totally agree with what Marcus and Daniel had to say. What a wonderful piece ... :)
Always nice to see a good Wood illustration, and cool to hear the auction story. I sometimes check with my friends too in regards to art coming to auction; I do try to avoid competing with them ... but not always (depending on how much I want a piece ... ;)
That's one mighty fierce looking groundhog ... love it!
Thank you. I had tried a few times at auction to get a McGinnis, but kept coming up short. This year's Windy City show made it a bit easier though, buying direct from an art dealer & fellow collector (thanks John).
When I first saw the piece I actually thought it had been done for the movie Camelot; the image is very reminiscent of the scene where King Arthur/Richard Harris meets Guenevere/Vanessa Redgrave for the first time.
Ooo ... cool piece! Love the camera angle that Alex chose to use.
Love the mix of ships through history (especially the Viking); and the ghosts & various "creepy crawlies" are fun too.
Hit the post button a bit too quick ... before I remembered to add Werewolf & Snuggums. Snuggums is in the bedroom right now but will soon reside in the hall. Actually the hall is a better location; more people will get to see him.
One of my favorite pieces from the recent IlluXCon; glad I got to see it in person ... very, very intricate.
Definitely seasonal. There are trees on my mountain property in Boone right now that look like this ... minus the Candycorn Belcher.
Cool to know that there are at least 4 recreations of Sanjulian's Vampirella #36 ... and not surprising given what an iconic image it is. I will keep my eye out for the other versions ... I'm curious to see what other changes Sanjulian made.
So many good lines to pick from. Captain Sternn is definitely the most fun of the Haevy Metal Movie segments ... the complete opposite of Mike Ploog's zombies segment, which to this day still creeps me out (and this is coming from somebody who loves to watch John Carpenter's The Thing).
Wow! Great dragon ... and Gwen is looking pretty good too. Love the selfie aspect of the drawing.
Thanks everybody for the comments ... much appreciated, as it's always nice to know that a good piece of art is being enjoyed. That's one of the best aspects of CAF ... sharing art with friends.
Wow! Missed seeing this when you posted it ... an absolutely wonderful piece for your collection. Congratulations.
I actually like this better than the original Shaman painting that Donato created. The flowing, up thrusting water gives the painting a more sensual & energenic feel.
Wow! Love Barr's work.
Nice that you have been able to acquire some of the prelims for Vince's finished covers. Always interesting to see process work.
I agree with Mark ... love the colors. I also enjoy the draping of the sheeting, both on the woman and the bed.
A good colaboration between you & George. I especially like the way the boat "pops" from the background without being too bold, and the elephant is nicely placed.
The Jungle Cruise at Disney World was a favorite ride for me too, and I had a friend who was a tour guide on the ride. I was there for Kenny's planned last day of work, and it was quite the sight to watch Kenny - with a rubber prop knife clenched in his hand - lunge off the boat into the river and attack a hippo. Definitely not a normal part of the ride, but the tourists didn't know that and they thought it was absolutely awesome.
