From page 19:
"I'm saying this whale is repeating a conversation it heard as an infant. One full of questions and answers... an argument that happened in front of it right before whatever animals it was living with were wiped out, or disappeared. Now the "creature", the noise it's making, it sounds a lot like a section of the fifty-two whale's song that's URGENT, a section that comes right before a response."
"What kind of response?"
"A MASSIVE response. Because the creature isn't talking to us."

And on this awesome splash, on page 20:
"It's talking to them."

This splash from 2013's The Wake (Snyder/Murphy) is also the last page of the issue, letting the reader know that the captured merman from issue 1 and 2 isn't calling out at the divers, but rather is calling for reinforcements. This fluid depiction of a swarming phalanx of mermen hits me with dread every time.

Not an artist or story I'm familiar with, but this is a fantastic splash and would be striking framed and hanging in anyone's man cave... But not so much the kids room! :) Great eye Bob!
