Some paintings just seem meant to be ...
When I contacted Donato about his Voyager drawing that I had seen on line, it had already been sold; but Donato was kind enough to offer me first dibs if he ever did a finished painting based on the drawing. About 10 months later, right before the 2016 SDCC, Donato did contact me about the painting and I had to turn it down; engine work on my car and other unexpected expenses just wouldn't allow for the purchase. Arrrrgh! I assumed the painting would sell at SDCC, so I was very surprised when Donato contacted me right before IlluXCon 9 and said the painting was still available. Fortunately I was in better shape financially, and was quite happy to welcome Voyager into my home.

Great painting by Donato! Thanks for sharing and esepcially thanks for sharing your story of acquiring it. It's great to hear about the interaction between great artists like Donato and collectors. I'm excited to finally meet Donato this year at Gen Con 50 where he will be the Artist Guest of Honor.
