Description

The Fox and the Hound Pan Background Layout Sketch (Walt Disney, 1981). Here is a gorgeous pan background layout from The Fox and the Hound. In visual arts a background layout is the line drawing of the background for a scene. Layouts are usually drawn from storyboards which define the action and perspective in the scene. Background layout artists take them to the next level by defining the detail and perspective. Layout drawings are then given to the background painters to color and complete the visual style. The level of detail in this pan layout is simply amazing. The layout artists on The Fox and the Hound included Dan Hansen, Glenn Vilppu, Sylvia Roemer, Guy Vasilovich, Michael Peraza and Joe Hale. Beautifully rendered in brown pencil on 30" x 11.5" pan size animation paper. It's a fantastic piece in Very Good condition with light production handling which includes pin holes in the corners and edge wear with a very small tear in the left edge.

Wonderful scenery. They knew how to create the environment to tell a story to set just the right mood. This underlying base is what gave the animation such a rich feel and depth.
