DescriptionI have really had some fun the past year with some of the imaginary Nova covers I have commissioned, but I wanted to do a fresh take on my theme that didn't rely on maintaining continuity. Thus "The New Adventures of Nova" begins here.My approach is to be similar to the Untold Tales of Spiderman comic from the mid-90's,using fresh stories while staying true to the original material. I always liked the masthead from the Larson/Nova run so I decided to use that with a new font I created. The first issue is a homage to the first 25 issues of the original series featuring all the prominent characters involved. I knew from the get go that I wanted The Fraims for the first issue as they have done a few other Nova covers for me prior. Of course there had to be an obstacle in my path to getting this completed. I forgot to add Crimebusters head to the list I sent Brendon and Brian, so they actually drew me another "head" that I had to include in the art via photoshop. Props to those two big time! I also decided to color this myself. Why I chose Black as a background I'll never know. Probably the hardest color to work with when coloring a layout. I kept the colors typical 70's and added some stars and such to the background since it was black. The story behind the cover speaks for itself. Someone has discovered Nova's secret identity and the consequences with be felt in the coming months. This issue also features The Beetle, who was not pictured on the cover, but will be on a future commission. I will be releasing these imaginary covers on a monthly basis, which gives me time to plan ahead and perhaps continue with coloring. The series will include a swarm of classic villains/Nova villains and a few new ones. In the months ahead Nova will travel to the edge of the galaxy and back and around the world(here and there) Many thanks to The Fraims for kicking off this series. They will be around for the next issue too. I plan on keeping them on board as long as I can. Next issue will feature more villains and a surprise guest star! (No-Prize to anyone who can name all the characters) :) Social/Sharing |

He is actually a Robot Sherlock Holmes Kevin. Created by Nova's brother Robbie. I was thinking od adding some lines to the hat to make him more recognizable.

Impressive...I have an awful feeling it is The Sphinx who knows his secret identity

I'm a pretty big Nova fan myself, so I'm really digging all of your covers and stories for these commissions. And you can't go wrong with the Fraims!

Someone did a nifty coloring job. This looks like a vintage comic. Great stuff!
