DescriptionMarvel Treasury Edition #5 p79 (1974) Jim Starlin / Joe SinnottFantastic Four splash title page! Before you get too excited this is not original art, but it is the original production art used to create the oversized Marvel treasury format comic that all of us bronze age comic fans loved. It featured this reprinted story. (A quick search shows that the original artwork for this page which comes from Marvel Feature #11 can be viewed in the amazing CAF collection of Dino Mauricio). Art consists of two cut stats although there is some touch-up work using marker and white-out at the bottom around the title letters. I love this image so much of Aunt Petunia's favorite nephew front and center along with great images of Reed stretching and a blazing Johnny flying... along with the classic dialogue. Measures approximately 13 1/2" x 9 1/2" Had a bit of a scare that turned into an adventure acquiring this page today. I'd been tracking its arrival from Heritage and got an email that it had arrived only to discover it wasn't on my porch. In checking the delivery pic, I quickly saw it wasn't left on my stoop. The home finish of the stoop looked like it might have been my next-door neighbor's home, but when I checked it wasn't their home. I jumped in my car and drove down the block and saw no nearby homes that looked like the pic. Then I thought perhaps they delivered to the same house number on an adjacent street. On the third block I checked I found the same house number as mine on that street looking like the stoop in the pic and the package on their porch! The artwork was saved! Social/Sharing |

Stunnning splash (even if it's only production stats)! It still serves to remind us all how cool Starlin and Sinnott's work on the FF was in the early Bronze Age! That splash is just plain jaw-dropping!
