Description

30 years ago Denys Cowan illustrated the cover to Detective Comics #600. That issue released in 1989 marked the 50th anniversary of Batman. Now here we are in the 80th anniversary year and Denys decided to recreate his iconic cover, but with his modern take on it.

When discussing the commission, I mentioned how much I always loved the cover to Detective #600 and I requested a version of Batman similar to that version. I was pleasantly surprised and shocked when I discovered that the commission turned out to be a modern recreation of the cover how it would have turned out in 2019 instead of 1989.

Batman in the rain is a perfect image for Cowan's scratchy inks - really did come out great! Congrats!

Yeah, love the "scratchy inks" effect on this one, especially with whatever is going on under the cape.
