DescriptionAs mentioned in my Creepy 5 cover, years back when I was in the market for a Frazetta, the painting I ended up purchasing was not even on my list of covers I really wanted. But this Eerie cover was one of my top three that I highly sort after! I was actually offered this painting by Ellie back when--but passed because the painting was altered. Enter Rob Pistella... Here's a collector who purchased the painting, and after years of ownership and research, found a way to bring the painting back to it's original glory! And, I've been working on closing a deal to get it for nearly five years....well worth the wait!Social/Sharing |

Sorry to see it go, but so glad it went to such an appreciative collector- I know it's in great hands and great company among your other gems. Hey-- 5 years to close a deal... not too long for a masterpiece!

Amazing piece! Just curious, I am unfamiliar with the changes that Frank made to it. What were they?

It was basically a T-Rex painting (ok...a beautiful T-Rex painting)...but no drama or substance compared to what it originally was. The story was Frank was planning on painting a sexy girl in their place, which never happened. When the prior owner had the painting, he had it evaluated by professional old school art restorers, and they noticed that the guys were overpainted with acrylic. Being that the painting is oil, it was a fairly easy job to remove the overpaint and reveal the two guys who were painted out. It totally changes the look and feel in my book. And, BTW, thanks for the comment! A piece this beautiful has to be shared...don't you think!
