DescriptionJeff Menges' fantastic new book, "101 Great Illustrators From the Golden Age 1890-1925" arrived in the mail yesterday. Looking through the Joseph Clement Coll pieces caused me to decide to unframe one of our Coll pieces and finally scan it properly. So here is Coll, from Collier's, January 8, 1921, with an illustration for "Fire-Tongue" by Sax Rohmer. It's from part 3 of the story, for the installment sub-titled, "Phyllis Abingdon Arrives." Social/Sharing |

Beautiful illustration. What must not be overlooked is the contribution Coll and others of his ilk had to the early comic strip artists. Great to see these pieces are still in existance.
