DescriptionMy second Sienkiewicz acquisition, from his brilliant run on Moon Knight! From these mid-run issues onwards, Bill was starting to really come into his own and develop a unique and distinctive style in comics, informed by but (in my humble opinion) several rungs up in both illustrative and aesthetic terms from Neal Adams. As a kid reading this and watching him develop as an artist I was in awe. I knew this series was well above average comics fare - Moench dealt with some thorny and highly controversial issues, and Sienkiewicz's increasingly maturing style fit the themes perfectly. If you want to check out edgy comics storytelling pre-Watchmen era, you could do a lot worse than pick up a batch of these beauties.Every line of this, from the scratchy hatching to the use of white-out to the clever placement of zips, adds to the atmosphere. Pure Sienkiewicz - and man, doesn't he draw rats well? Social/Sharing |
