DescriptionToday was a good art day, as two pulp paintings were delivered by the friendly neighborhood Fed Ex delivery man. Here’s one of them, painted by John Coughlin, which appeared on the July 31, 1926 issue of Detective Story Magazine, illustrating “The Crimson Clown” by Johnston McCulley. Although McCulley is best known as the creator of Zorro, he created many other series characters for the pulps, including the Crimson Clown. This would be the first of 17 adventures featuring the title hero published between 1926 and 1931, with one final story published in 1944.Social/Sharing |
