DescriptionOriginal art page for War Comics #25, published by Atlas (which later on became Marvel Comics) in May of 1954. This is Pg. 2 from a classic Russ Heath story, and is a very rare example of an early 1950's art page from one of the greatest war artists in the history of comics. While much of Heath's 1960's and 1970's DC Comics war art is available, and the same is also true of art by the legendary Joe Kubert from that later time period, it is very hard to find older pages like this one from the Golden Age of comics. It is a nice large page which displays beautifully. It measures approximately 12 3/4" by 19 3/4", and is on nice quality thick art board, with a little whiteout used and a couple pieces of tape on the back for lettering corrections. No serious war art collection is complete without a Russ Heath example, but classic older pieces like this one are very difficult to find as many did not survive. To get a piece from the 50's of this quality is special, as they rarely appear on the open market, and once pieces go into collections they do not come out again. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional and unbelievably rare piece of 1950's artwork, that would look amazing framed and prominently displayed, and would be a true key piece in any collection.Social/Sharing |
