Description

This was a prelim by artist Doug Rosa for "The Ship of Ishtar", A. Merritt's classic novel, for the Avon edition published in 1966. Rosa did a number of covers for Avon in the mid-1960's, including several for books by Merritt and Talbot Mundy. His primary claim to fame, however, probably is as a Doc Savage cover artist, for the Bantam editions of "The Land of Terror" and "The Lost Oasis".

Had the book many years ago but never saw this prelim before. It's really cool and should have been a cover.
