Description

Bobby & Amara have been kidnapped, and Sam & Illyana are trying to figure out what’s up. With the help of Lila Cheney and Dazzler, they figure out they’ve been recruited against their will into the Gladiators - a death match in L.A. secretly run by the Shadow King aka Karma! Even though they find their friends, this battle is far from done.

Now why is Strong Guy a New Mutants commission? Because his first appearance was in this issue - New Mutants 29. Per Bill -“… that character started as a throw away figure in a panel drawn totally to amuse an audience of one - me. Chris simply ran with it and I played extreme levels of catch up. As in" really? You're really giving this Cartooned beef head with very 80s attire a whole life and backstory and everything?!"”

With all due respect, André, as cool as this piece by the mighty Sienkiewicz is, the story of how Strong Guy came to exist is even cooler!

It has a nice circus look to him! Not only is he a strongman, but he has a bit of showmanship with the pose and the swing of the wrecking ball. A Sienkiewicz masterpiece found with a very fun subject.
