Yesterday I posted a pulp cover preliminary by artist William Fulton Soare for the March 1940 issue of Adventure. Here are the other two prelims I have by him, both clearly intended for Adventure, but neither of which appear to have been turned into final covers. However, there are lots of similarities between these and other covers Adventure covers he did have published in the late 1930's and early 1940's. The frontiersman image may be an alternate idea for his cover for the September 1939 issue of Adventure cover, while the Afghan may similarly be an alternate idea for what ultimately became his cover for the January 1941 issue. The concept of each, with the main figure swinging a rifle, was used by him on his cover for the August 1940 issue, though there the figure is a legionnaire.
