DescriptionIn honor of Isaac Asimov's 98th birthday today, I thought I'd post a painting that my friend, Bob Weinberg, and I picked up in 2009 from our friend, Jerry Weist. If I'm remembering correctly, Jerry had bought it at the Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention back in 2005.None of us were ever able to figure out the artist, but it's the cover to the May-June 1961 issue of "Things to Come" (the bulletin of The Science Fiction Book Club). It was done to illustrate the May selection that year -- Isaac Asimov's "Triangle." This was a collection of three novels by Asimov -- "Pebble In the Sky," "The Stars, Like Dust" and "The Currents of Space." As luck would have it, that bulletin fits almost exactly into the block of white space at the lower right, so when we matted and framed it, we put a copy of the bulletin in that space. Unfortunately, the book itself didn't use this art, instead using a bland design made of triangles. Social/Sharing |
