DescriptionDrawn by Dan Jurgens on June 7th, 2014 at the Phoenix Comiccon from 2:30 to 4:35pm. This piece is fairly large measuring 11' x 14" on thick art paper. When I asked Dan why and how he created the Doomsday villian he responded by saying that, "I wanted a villain that could 'hit' Superman. Prior to that he kept getting foes that talked too much and Superman couldn't hit them." He went on to explain that the spikes on Doomsday represent his skeletal structure coming through his skin - a kind of exo-skeleton. As for his eyes, the idea came from a football helmet where the bars cover the eyes. Jurgens thought that was a natural way to protect Doomsday's eyes (a possible weakness that Superman could exploit???).Social/Sharing |
