Description

In 1995 at San Diego Comic Con (now Comic Con International), I met manga/anime legend Go Nagai. He created Mazinger Z, Devilman and Cutie Honey. He drew a sketch of Cutie Honey for me when I met him. Soon after, I attended Anime Expo LA. I was in dire need of extra "convention cash" and I somehow convinced Anime Expo's charity art auction to sell my Go Nagai Cutie Honey sketch. I gave them 25% of the sale towards the charity. 20 years pass and I never meet nor come across another Go Nagai original art for sale. I simply regretted getting rid of the art. At WonderCon LA 2016, I come across a vendor's booth and see my 1st Go Nagai art for sale in all these years at a convention. I ask the vendor if they would like to trade and they agreed to swap for other art I have. Low and behold, the Go Nagai art was the same Cutie Honey sketch that I acquired from Go Nagai 20 years ago!

Cutie Honey (also spelled Cutey Honey) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai. First appearing in Weekly Shōnen Champion's 41st issue of 1973, the series ran until April 1974. It follows an android girl named Honey Kisaragi, who transforms into the sexy red or pink-haired heroine Cutie Honey to fight against the assorted villains that threaten her or her world. Tons of adult oriented fan service in the OVA versions that were introduced to an American audience in the 90's haha.

The Cutie Honey franchise spans many works, including numerous manga series, two TV anime series, two OVA series, and two live action adaptations.
