DescriptionTwo JSA pieces in a row. For this commission it was a case of replacing the JLA with the JSA and also adding in a little extra battle between Ultra Man and Doctor Fate. I used some authentic rocks from the West Coast and changed the sky colour from orange. Also, Larry wanted the piece to keep the Silver Age feel so I did the light from the rings in a Silver Age way, not full on energy in other words...just a hint of it!Social/Sharing |

Wow, this is great. I love the addition of Doctor Fate and Ultra-Man. I'm curious as to the choice of Mr Terrific, your choice or the commissioner? As a frequent JSA commissioner, I might have gone for Dr.Mid-Nite, Wildcat or perhaps Hourman. I might add nothing against Mr Terrific, I have used Terry Sloan in several commissions and always use Mike Sekowsky's version as the reference.

It was between Dr. Mid-Nite and Mr. Terrific! I used Sekowsky as the basis for most of the costume ref. The plan is to add logos and text digitally. Thanks for the comments Michael!

As someone who grew up reading the silver age Justice League comics, this takes me back to one of my favorite covers. And actually I'm right in sync with Michael Dunne's comments regarding alternatives to Mr Terrific but of course that's just a matter of personal taste. This is an awesome piece of art!!! Congratulations to both you and the owner.
