Really fun when Smith does an offbeat character. He knows it's not going to be as popular, so he chooses to do it by making it worthwhile for himself and the audience with extra slick inks and design.

Now there's a character you don't see every day--The Moth! You know, I remember reading The Moth when he was featured in his own comic book drawn by Steve Rude and inked by Gary Martin. But that was a long time ago. So it's fun seeing him pop up again in this commission by Paul Smith. When Paul draws less well known characters like this one, he seems to give the drawing extra attention. Love the dramatic pose the Moth is striking here, legs spread, wings wide open. And check out those beautiful inks! I love when Paul puts extra time into the inking. Love the thicks and thins he gets from the brushwork, it really gives the drawing extra pop! Great pick-up, congrats!
