toward the end of summer 2005, Mile High Comics in Denver organized a small, in-store gathering of artists. they flew in gene ha of "top 10," mike norton of "teen titans go," tim seeley of "hack/slash," andy macdonald of "nyc mech" and many others. about a dozen.

i had seen some commissions that andy macdonald had done in other CAF galleries, and i just loved them. so i decided i would try to get a commission from him for this theme.

i made a beeline to andy as soon as the event began, and he agreed. i asked him how much an 11x17 commission would be, and he threw out a figure that was very low. i told him i was looking for something special and that he was the main reason i drove an hour to the show, and he doubled the price. i thought that was reasonable for what i wanted. i told him we had a deal, and i told him i'd return later.

about three hours after i set up the commission, andy was finishing it up. it was/is amazing. it made my day. i was so happy with the results and with his efforts that i paid him 25 percent more for the commission than what we had agreed on.

when i uploaded this scan, it turned out a little soft. i don't know why, but it did. the piece, though, is FULL of detail, amazing detail, especially in the corset and in the boa.
