Description

As a part of working out plots for the Crusaders All-New Adventures covers I, as all good geeks do, started compiling lists of all Archie's characters. You wouldn't know it by looking at the 80's or any of the newer series but they actually have a whole mess of them. And lots of them are forgotten golden agers. Once I'd thought about trying to expand the Crusaders' universe with the Red Circle Spotlight series the idea struck me to look back to Archie's first comics and play with some of those characters as well. It was easy to see it as a new Blue Ribbon Comics series and David Bednarski was the only artist that ever crossed my mind. David's amazing design work can be found on deviantArt and he's also done a lot of stuff for Roy Johnson's Standard Comics. A+ kinda guy. I was very happy that he was interested in doing these covers. And the 25th issue of Crusaders seemed like the right point to "launch" this series.

There was never a Crusaders back in the Golden Age but it was too fun an idea to have the "greatest" heroes join together to fight the most dastardly of foes in the form of ~the Skull~! The Comet looks perfect here and I love the look on the Shield's face. Some great work from David.

What can the country do but call it's mightiest heroes, crusaders against evil all, to save them! Summoned by the president himself, g-man extraordinaire the Shield gathers his team - the Comet, the Wizard, Red Ruby and Bob Phantom! But can their combined might save the day?
