Description

The 1970s had its share of fads, and comics certainly took advantage of them. One of them was the kung fu craze. David Carradine's "Kung Fu" tv series was up the ratings charts, so Charlton Comics came out with their own thinly-veiled version called "Yang."

Just like the tv series, this series was set in the Old West. Yang ran into his share of sidewinders, owlhoots, renegades, and other western ne'er-do-wells. The art was by the great Warren Sattler, and although his artwork kinda reminded me of Steve Ditko's, I liked it better than Ditko's. So sue me.

The redrawn version is by a young up-and-comer named Ralvi Lingga Ariyan. Ralvi did a bang up job, is very reasonably priced, and gives great service. You can reach him through his Facebook page.

As Eddie Murphy said in The Golden Child, "Nothing wrong with my Yang." Of course, he was referring to this excellent sequential artwork. (What did you *think* he was talking about?) Another triumphant return for a sadly overlooked hero!
