Description

John Totleben Miracleman #16 Page 12 "Serial Killers" Production/Original Art (Eclipse, 1988). The aftermath of Miracleman Family's totalitarian reign of Earth is shown in this page from "Olympus", with all crime and war eliminated. This was writer Alan Moore's final issue of the controversial series. Many of the art elements, including the images of serial killers Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, and Richard Speck, are photostats; only the final panel of the "Masons of Utopia" is hand-drawn art. The page has an image area of approximately 11.5" x 16". Signed by Totleben in the bottom margin.

Totleben, John:John Totleben (American, b. 1958): After attending the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art for a year, John Totleben's first professional work was published in a 1979 issue of Heavy Metal. Inker Totleben then teamed with penciler Steve Bissette on Swamp Thing in 1983, and when writer Alan Moore later came on board and revamped the character, the three creators produced a critically acclaimed and revolutionary run on the series. In 1985, Totleben co-created the short-lived horror anthology Taboo with Steve Bissette. Totleben also teamed with Alan Moore again, as both penciler and inker of the third volume of Miracleman. The series was delayed when Totleben was diagnosed with and treated for the eye disease retinitis pigmentosa. Though Totleben's eye condition has made him legally blind, it has left his central vision clear enough to keep working at a slower pace, and he has since worked on titles for DC, Marvel, and Image Comics .
